JAZZ CLASSES
Adult Jazz and Tap Classes:
The format of this class is 45 minutes of Jazz and 30 minutes of Tap. Some
students opt to do jazz only, but most participate in both segments. The class
strives to encompass abilities on levels from beginner to experienced by
concentrating on aerobic exercises from warm-ups through combinations and
routines in jazz and tap vocabularies in many different styles. It is an
enjoyable and demanding workout. It is an appropriate class for beginners as
well as the adult who has had previous instruction at a younger age and wants to
pick up dance again. We offer the morning and the evening class to accommodate
your busy schedules.
Jazz Level II through Advanced
Our jazz classes offer a broad range of experience for dancers covering
traditional, modern, and popular styles of dance.
These classes are scheduled so that they can be taken separately or with
ballet and/or tap. General age ranges are a guide, but previous dance experience
and ability will determine correct class placement.
Jazz Level II: Age range 11-12-13 year olds. 45 min class.
(There is no designated Jazz Level III)
Jazz Level IV: Age range 13-14 year olds. 45 min class.
Jazz Level Advanced: Age range 15-18 year olds. 45 min class.
Extended Ballet, Tap, and Jazz Combination:
This class is a one-and-one-half hour combination of one-half hour each of
ballet, tap, and jazz. The student is required to take at least two sections of
the class for at least one hour of instruction. These classes are made-up of
experienced dancers who are in the 4th and 5th grades in school. They are
designed to be the next progressive step after our one-hour combination class,
giving the dancers more time and more intensive work with each discipline. The
ballet technique is Cechetti, the tap technique is through graded exercises, and
the jazz technique covers a broad range of musical styles.
